Hi, I’m a Finnish football-fan, and our own league’s level being what it is, I’ve found Bundesliga my absolute favourite league (with the greatest commentating I’ve ever heard anywhere, thanks for that and keep up the good work).
The earlier conversation about UCL-title contenders and great players, I couldn’t help but think about how great it is – in my opinion – that today football is a younger sport than it was in the 20th century. When you think about great players and teams, of course Los Galacticos comes to mind. Zidane, Beckham, Figo, and Ronaldo for example, were all in their 30s in their prime.
Now, when you mention the best players in the world – C. Ronaldo, Sneijder, Rooney, Zlatan, Robben, Ribery, and maybe undisputedly the best player at the moment, Messi – you find them to be in their mid 20s or even younger. And more keep coming, perhaps not the world’s best yet, but with a great future: Müller, Kroos, Özil, Marin.
Young teams tend to keep the tempo up, and they have ambition to show the world their abilities. Experience is a huge factor in football, but with the ever-advancing physicality and technicality of the game, perhaps it’s getting a little trampled under the feet of self-confidence and speed of young superstars?
I’d love to hear your thoughts on physique+technique vs experience, since it does seem like the first is getting the upper hand.
Thanks for your time and all the wonderful games, every weekend is an enjoyable Bundesliga-weekend.

Hi,
I run the Bundesliga blog dasboot.wordpress.com, which serves as my university final year practical project. I was wondering if someone from your site would be able to answer a few questions on the Bundesliga for me? You can email me at bf65ah@student.sunderland.ac.uk.
Many thanks,
James Hunt
